One of my unsuspected skills that emerged during lockdown was the ability to cut my own hair. Now it is short hair, but it had never occurred to me before to try cutting it myself until hair appointments became more rare than hen’s teeth. It turned out okay, and I have actually improved at it. Well, nobody has done a double take so far, at least. So I decided, in my continuing effort to live more lightly and sustainably, to continue to cut my own hair. And to divert the money previously spent on hair to ordering a veggie box from Irish producers. I guess some people might think that is a bit of an odd thing to do. But one of the great advantages of getting older is ceasing to care what people think. There is great freedom and vitality in experimenting with new ways to do things. Today was the exciting day when my first veggie box arrived. Look and see for yourself! And for those living in Ireland, this came from new company Harvest Day Local produce, sustainably grown, delivered locally, with no plastic packaging (way hay!) and minimal carbon footprint. I wish them the best of luck with their venture. Happy days!
