Voting for a Future

I am bemused by the election literature coming in my door prior to the general election here in Ireland on November 29th, 2024. Apart from the odd mention of transport, it is as if climate change does not exist. Am I missing something? The EU declared a Climate Emergency in 2019 but there is no such urgency evident here this week. Yet, the shocking scenes of the Valencia floods were replicated in Killybegs in Donegal a few days ago, due to Storm Bert. If you are wondering which parties have the most comprehensive policies on tackling climate change – including the phasing out of fossil fuels – then the independent survey commissioned by Friends of the Earth points to Labour, (Grade A) the Social Democrats (A-) and the Greens (B). The major parties scored an E. Worth considering for your vote on Friday, especially for the generations to come.
